AI and Science Policy

Alongside applied machine learning research, I am also interested in Responsible AI and AI Policy and Governance. I am currently a research associate at the Future Impact Group for Open Source AI Governance. From April 2024-Mar 2025, I was trained in the Science Policy Cohort under American Geophysical Union’s Voices for Science Program. I also participated in Aspen Digital’s Writing for Policy program in May 2024 and served as a research group member for Center for AI and Digital Policy from Sep-Dec 2024 and was a contributor to the AI Democratic Value Index Report, 2025.

My interest in AI policy is centered around researching and designing responsible AI practices for improving transparency and accountability around AI, facilitating AI assurance, and strengthening AI governance through standard development. I am interested in designing these best practices to encompass the AI lifecycle. I currently serve as a working group member and secretary for IEEE Standards Association Working Group on Environmental Impact of AI.

I recently presented a short paper on data governance encompassing the AI lifecycle at the AAAI 2025 Workshop on Datasets and Evaluators of AI Safety, and served on a workshop panel for safety considerations around agentic AI.
